About
Katie Meyer
and Katie's Save
Katie's Story
Katie Meyer was a beloved daughter, sister, friend, and teammate, who left an indelible mark on the lives of those around her. With her loving and loyal nature, she consistently extended empathy and kindness, seeking to bring joy to everyone she encountered. Born in Burbank, CA, she spent her early years adventuring with her sisters, Samantha and Siena, exploring parks, playing sports, and embracing every opportunity for fun and learning.
Katie's vibrant personality illuminated her school years, excelling academically and immersing herself in extracurricular activities, notably soccer. Beginning her soccer journey at age 5, she displayed natural talent and fearlessness as a goalkeeper. From high school through her college years at Stanford University, soccer remained a passion, culminating in her pivotal role in winning the 2019 NCAA Championship with her team, and serving as Team Captain for her last two seasons. Despite her competitive nature, Katie's warmth and openness fostered deep connections with her peers, both on and off the field. Throughout her academic and athletic journey, she continued to inspire others with her unwavering passion and drive.
Yet, it's not Katie's remarkable achievements that we remember most, but the countless small gestures of love and kindness that embodied her essence. From her bright smile and heartfelt embraces to her inclusive nature and cheerful presence at team gatherings, Katie's influence extended far beyond her achievements, and her memory lives on in the hearts of all those fortunate enough to know her.
About Katie's Save
Katie's Save Foundation is relentlessly working to create legislation for college campuses that provides students the option to select an outside advisor of their choice to help them advocate and navigate complicated disciplinary and/or administrative procedures they may be involved in. This includes all Title IX violations, academic probation, drug/alcohol incidents, and all general disciplinary violations, etc.
We are pushing forward a bill in California, AB 1575, a.k.a. Katie Meyer's Law - that passed through the CA State Assembly unanimously. It now resides in the CA Senate, and if passed there, moves to the Governor for signature into law. On behalf of our young people, their families and campus communities, we encourage other states to take action and adopt this law as well!
The Katie's Save Foundation's mission is the prevention of future tragedies by offering personally chosen and trusted support for appropriate guidance to our college students faced with challenging situations on campus.
