Jamie “Rabbit” Lieberman
WHO: Jamie “Rabbit” Lieberman
WHY: I came to Camp Shutout in the summer of 2002 and had no clue what to expect as I never attended a goalkeeper camp before. The staff and curriculum were absolutely amazing! Throughout my first week, I was pushed physically and mentally…I discovered how far I could go. I was taught proper technique and learned all sorts of training exercises, which I wrote down in a notebook that was provided to all campers. I still have those books today! I’ll always value the work ethic Camp Shutout gave me; the “never give up” mentality. I also never had so many laughs in my life… though the staff trained us serious, they knew how to be clowns in our down time! I came to the camp a “shot stopper” and left a “goalkeeper” with my own unique personality and approach to the position. I spent three more summers at Camp Shutout as a camper, then was asked to join the staff as a staff assistant. I was a staff assistant for three years, then promoted to staff my first summer out of college. Throughout the years, I have grown close with many of the staff; it is definitely a family: we have our little arguments from time to time, but we learn from and with each other, we grow together, and we support each other.I owe my entire career to the camp and will never forget the impact it has had on my life as a person and soccer figure.
WHERE: College Coaching: I spent 1 full season (Spring 2009/Fall 2010) at Wright State University – NCAA Division 1. I am now coaching at my alma mater, University of Wisconsin-Parkside – NCAA Division II.
Playing: Along with coaching, I am captain for the Milwaukee Wave Reserves.
